My good friend Vincent opened a restaurant in Santa Monica, a nice lunch spot. This dude is a serious food fanatic, almost everything in there is organic and made on the premises, including his delicious pastries… homeboy’s also been getting good yelpage. In this posting I choose to complain.  Complain about the service delivered by the Los Angeles Police Department. I was hired to DJ at a party on Saturday September 8 at a house in Venice. At 10:15pm, 2 officers showed up, entered the property without asking anyone. When I came up to them to help them - and mentioned they were entering private property and should step back off of it until they get permission to enter, they threatened to take me with them and screamed at me, telling me to step back. I was in no one’s way, simply talking a couple feet away from them.

I’ll pass on the rest, which is boring. I realize this interaction was not all that dramatic, but still, it really bothers me.These officers are hardly protecting or serving anyone, the music was not loud, not nearly as loud as a Harley Davidson for instance, which seem to roam freely at all times of day and night. Not nearly as loud as most trucks even. Can I call the cops and complain the next time a truck drives by my house?

Clearly LAPD has NOTHING better to do. More than ever, I despise these types of arrogant, threatening, simple-minded cops. I also question my safety when I am threatened while stating my own rights. It’s bad enough to see this stuff happening in Russia, but shit, this is Venice, city of LA.

Sigh.

The sun is calling me again. The sun and the sun-drenched inhabitants of Venice beach, CA, two of whom are celebrating their birthday on Saturday September 8. What a great excuse to come back down, chill with my peeps and play some wax along with my partner in crime, Mr Kamahele. That’s right, Venice is losing another one of its bestestest, Mizz Sarah Jones, who is headed to ye olde Paris, France to further her education with a Masters at the American University in Paris. Yup I know, sounds purty fancy. It is purty fancy actually, and so is this fine gal, who’s inviting all of her friends to gather and wish her farewell on her journey.

As it turns out, her burfday is just a couple of days before her big trip, so it’s double whammy time, this Thursday, August 23 at yet another not totally publicly disclosable Venice location….

For music, you’ve got your VB trio, Heidski, Kamahele and I, doing our silly little DJ thang one after another in a shveet backyard far from the smog, traffic and heat. Thursday’s the day, 8pm’s the time, BYOB’s the motto, so if you know who Sarah is, hit my arse up!
